A Guide to Birding with Binoculars

Ideal for longer-range glassing on land and water, the Alpen Optics 10×42 New Shasta Ridge Binoculars are lighter than their predecessor which will help on long hikes and when you’re spending a lot of time behind the eyepieces. Anti-reflection fully multicoated optics complement the wide field of view to provide bright, clear, high-contrast views with accurate color rendition from one edge to the other. The 42mm objectives gather all the light needed to keep views crisp and bright in challenging conditions, such as at dawn and dusk, without being overly bulky or cumbersome. Their chassis is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be resistant to internal fogging and waterproof to withstand extreme weather, with textured palm pads on the armor to ensure a secure grip in cold and wet weather.

Optical Performance

• 10x magnification brings objects in close for detailed observation
• 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk, without the bulk or weight of larger objectives
• Compact roof prisms help to produce a thinner housing size without compromising performance
• BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
• Anti-reflection fully multicoated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, and contrast
• 315′ field of view at 1000 yards

• Closed bridge configuration provides a solid and stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
• Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold and wet weather, or when wearing gloves
